Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock has welcomed the news of Japanese investment into the club.
K&K Shonan Management Corporation are taking a 20% stake in Argyle's holding company, as well as helping to negotiate commercial agreements abroad.
The Championship club are hoping that the deal can boost incoming money from the Far East.
Sturrock said: "I am very, very pleased - any investment is a bonus for this football club."
Speaking about the longer-term ties with Japan, he told BBC Radio Devon: "Hopefully maybe player exchange would be something we could look into, maybe a wee tour or something, people coming to us in this area and us going to them.
"Obviously we might be able to tap into the big global companies that Japan have."
