Plymouth midfielder Peter Halmosi could be sent for an exploratory operation on his troublesome knee.
The Hungarian international was carried-off after the injury during a home game with Watford on 22 March.
He returned to score Argyle's early goal against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday but was substituted after an hour in the 1-1 draw.
After the game manager Paul Sturrock said: "We have got to make sure that knee of his is totally fine."
He added: "We have got to decide whether to kick-on or go in and have a wee look.
"He hasn't trained for two-and-a-half weeks and I felt he was getting a wee bit weary and didn't want to push him too much."
Sturrock, Halmosi, the club physiotherapist and the club's doctor are due to make a decision soon on whether to operate or not.
