Swansea striker Rory Fallon has signed for Plymouth on a club-record �300,000, 30-month deal, and goes straight into the squad to face Coventry on Monday. The 6ft 2ins New Zealander, 24, joined the Swans for that fee from Swindon a year ago and has since scored 12 goals in 41 league appearances.
Swansea turned down an initial Argyle bid, but the club reluctantly agreed to further talks at the player's request.
The Swans say they only want to keep players fully committed to them.
The Fallon transfer equals the �300,000 that then-Plymouth manager Peter Shilton paid for Port Vale for defender Peter Swan in 1994.
Fallon expressed his desire to stay at the west Wales club earlier this week, but the lure of Championship football proved stronger.

Fallon has not always been the most popular player with Swansea fans, who have preferred the bustle of Adebayo Akinfenwa up front, but manager Kenny Jackett has been a consistent supporter of the Kiwi.
"Rory gets criticism, but I see honesty and hard work," Jackett told BBC Sport Wales this week.
"We're not under any pressure to sell and if we make such a decision it will be a football one, not a financial one."
With under-contract Leon Knight already having been told by Jackett that he will never play for Swansea again, Lee Trundle and Akinfenwa are left as the only senior front men at the club.
