Peterborough United land Leicester City's Kennedy

Tom Kennedy
Kennedy has not played for Leicester since September

Peterborough United have signed Leicester City left-back Tom Kennedy on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent switch.

The 25-year-old has featured just four times for the Foxes since arriving from Rochdale in the summer.

He has spent the last month back at Spotland on loan, playing six games.

"Left-back is an area we needed to strengthen and I have always thought highly of him," Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the club website.

"I said when I arrived that we were a bit unbalanced in that area, Tommy Rowe and Charlie Lee have both played there, but Tom is a natural left-back."

Kennedy's arrival does not bode well for fellow left-back Scott Griffiths, who is currently out on loan at Chesterfield.

Griffiths, who has signed from Dagenham 12 months ago, has not featured for Posh all season.

Kennedy, who goes straight into the squad for Saturday's visit of Hartlepool, started his career at Bury, where he made 143 league appearances, scoring five times.

He moved to Rochdale in 2007 and showed he still had an eye for goal, netting nine times in 132 league starts.

Three of his four Leicester appearances have come in the League Cup.
