Peterborough defender Gabby Zakuani feels fit

Peterborough United defender Gabby Zakuani feels he is finally back to his best following groin surgery.

The 24-year-old started the last two games and put in a dominant performance in the 2-1 win over Rochdale.

Zakuani told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I was dropped, but you just have to get on with it and now I'm back in I just want to keep my place."

Despite his fitness problems Zakuani has started eight league games for Posh so far this season.

"I had quite a long run in the team and then I got dropped, but I'm back now and I just want to kick on," he added.

Posh are currently just a point off the League One play-offs and Zakuani believes the victory over Rochdale was a return to the level they were at earlier in the season.

"I put in a shift in the win over Rochdale, I was happy with how we played and the confidence is definitely back now," he said.

"That result has given everyone a lift and we've now got something to hold onto and build on."
