Peterborough United striker Dave Hibbert says warming the bench at his new club is a novel experience.

Hibbert, 24, played 40 times for Shrewsbury last term but has yet to make a start for Posh after his arrival in the summer.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I was used to playing, and when you're not playing regularly you do get a little bit frustrated.

"But you have to realise you will get your opportunity."

The frontman's chances have been restricted by the form of forwards Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron Mclean, who have 10 goals between them this season.

But Hibbert says boss Gary Johnson has done a good job of keeping the whole of the squad hungry for games.

"The manager's been brilliant and that's great," he said.

"We've got a close knit squad and everybody knows that at some point in the season they will get the opportunity to do well and continue the good work."

Hibbert has yet to find the back of the net for Posh in four substitute appearances.
