Former Middlesbrough and Birmingham defender Franck Queudrue has joined Peterborough United on trial.

The 31-year-old French defender played the second half of Wednesday's 2-1 defeat by West Ham.

Posh boss Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He showed some real Premiership quality, some great headers and played some terrific balls.

"It's always handy to have a left-footed centre-back, but we'll have to wait and see what happens."

Queudrue, who spent time on loan at Colchester United last season, is a free agent after leaving Birmingham.

With Gabby Zakunai still recovering from groin surgery, Johnson is on the look-out for defensive options.

"We'll need to have a chat because we might be a chasm away in terms of salary, but he's a good footballer and a good lad," he said.

Dave Hibbert scored his first Posh goal as Johnson handed most of his squad a run-out.

Midfielder Chris Whelpdale was substituted after picking up an ankle knock, while Lee Frecklington remains on the sidelines.
