A strengthened Peterborough United can bounce straight back to the Championship, according to midfielder Lee Frecklington.

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has vowed to financially back boss Gary Johnson.

Frecklington told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:"If we can keep the same squad and add to it over the summer I can't see why we won't bounce back,

"If the manager feels we need new players and the chairman backs him the club can only get better."

MacAnthony admitted this week his business interests had struggled because of the recession, but insisted it would not hamper his ability to provide Johnson with the funds to bring in new players.

Relegated Posh were promoted from League One 12 months ago and will be looking to repeat the feat.

Frecklington, 24, missed Johnson's first match as Posh manager with a hamstring problem, but could be available for Saturday's trip to Reading.

"I've done this injury before and it had got to a stage where it felt it could go at anytime, but we'll give it a rest and hopefully kick on over the next couple of days," he said.

Johnson is expecting an exciting game at the Madjeski given Reading's recent good form.

"Reading are the form team in this league, especially at home. They're open and free-flowing and still have a bit of a chance of making the play-offs," he said.

Gabby Zakuani and Mark Little should both be fit after returning to training, but Chris Whelpdale, Aaron Mclean, Izale McLeod, Liam Dickinson and Nathan Koranteng are all out.

Reuben Reid and Kerrea Gilbert have now returned to their parent clubs after their loan spells expired.
