Ferguson has suffered his worst 10-game run as Posh manager

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson wants to see the whole club pulling together ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Nottingham Forest.

Posh are 22nd in the Championship following back-to-back defeats.

Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We've got to stick together and that means the fans as well.

"Obviously they're going to be critical of certain things - myself included - which isn't a problem, but we need a good atmosphere on Saturday."

Ferguson was handed a vote of confidence by owner Darragh MacAnthony following Tuesday's defeat by Plymouth.

The Posh boss knows the fans will not always agree with all of his decisions, but has called on them to keep backing his players.

"It's my first really bad run as a manager, but we just need to stick to our beliefs and what has brought us success in the past.

"I have a lot of belief in my players and it's easy to start nit-picking during a bad run."

Posh have been playing well, but a combination of defensive errors and missed chances has left them with just seven points from 10 games.

Ferguson dropped two of his defensive regulars - Gabby Zakuani and Tommy Williams - for Tuesday's match with Plymouth in an effort to combat the problem.

"It's not easy to name a team, but we needed freshening up and I admit it was bit of a gamble," he said.

Charlie Lee, who came into the side in place of Zakuani, is still short of match fitness following an injury lay-off so could miss out against Forest on Saturday.

Left-back Jamie Day is definitely out after suffering an ankle injury during Tuesday's game so Tommy Williams looks set to come straight back into the side.

Tottenham loanee Danny Rose will hope to hold onto his place in midfield after impressing on his debut.
