Peterborough United winger Dominic Green hopes to benefit from Chris Whelpdale's injury problems.
Green signed from Dagenham and Redbridge last year, but made just three starts as Posh claimed promotion.
The 20-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Last season was a bit frustrating when I came into the club and didn't get too many games.
"Obviously Whelpdale having his hernia operation is a bit of a bonus, but I will just have to see how it goes."
Whelpdale, 20, is ruled out for the next six weeks and set to miss the start of the season.
If I need to be patient I will be and if my chance comes I'll look to grab it

Green will be competing with Shaun Batt and George Boyd for a place on the right wing, should boss Darren Ferguson choose to use a 4-4-2 formation.
He has ruled out seeking a loan move should his chances remain limited.
"At the moment I'm just fully focused in being in the team, so if I need to be patient I will be and if my chance comes I'll look to grab it," Green said.
Tommy Rowe and Toumani Diagouraga will make their first appearances for Posh on British soil against St Albans on Tuesday, having turned out against Rochdale in Marbella last week.
Craig Mackail-Smith and Whelpdale are both ruled out with injury, whilst Aaron Mclean, Craig Morgan and George Boyd have been struggling with illness.
