Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson says defender Chris Westwood may still have a future at the club, despite joining Cheltenham on loan.
Westwood, 31, has agreed a one-month loan move having fallen out of favour.
Utility-man Charlie Lee, 22, has been selected ahead of Westwood in recent Posh matches.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's an initial month and at the moment we aren't looking to do any further than that."
Westwood was a key part of the side which won promotion from League Two last season.
However, in his time at Posh, the former Walsall and Hartlepool man has been hampered by injury.
Since the arrival of Gabby Zakuani from Fulham, Westwood has struggled to get in the side and is currently Ferguson's fourth-choice centre-back.
"Given his age and experience I think it's best for him that he gets out and plays some games," Ferguson said.
"It's good for him to have a month at Cheltenham, they've got a lot of games and it can only help him."
Westwood has been named in the Cheltenham squad for the trip to Stockport on Tuesday.
