Partick Thistle have given boss Ian McCall permission to hold talks with Dundee over their managerial vacancy.

The First Division leaders parted company with Jocky Scott on Saturday, 15 months after he returned to Dens Park for his third spell at the club.

Thistle, in a statement on their website, confirmed their manager would enter discussions with Dundee.

"However, Ian McCall remains the manager of Partick Thistle and is contracted to the club," it said.

The statement added: "It is our hope that Ian will remain our manager for at least the duration of that contract."

McCall, whose playing career included spells at Thistle, Dundee and Rangers, signed a new three-year deal with Partick in June 2009.

His managerial stock rose after relative success at cash-strapped Clydebank and Airdrieonians, and a spell in charge of Falkirk before he was snapped up by Dundee United in February 2003.

McCall was sacked by United chairman Eddie Thompson in March 2005, and took the managerial hot-seat at Queen of the South in November of that year.

But after an impressive start he left his hometown club at the end of season 2006/07 after narrowly escaping relegation.

McCall said when he signed his contract extension that he wanted to guide Thistle to the SPL.

The Glasgw club are currently sixth in the First Division, 11 points behind Dundee.

Scott was sacked after Dundee's lead at the top of the table was cut to three points following Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Airdrie.
