Cook scored on his home Kassam Stadium debut against Luton
Oxford United's Jamie Cook will not feature against his old club Crawley when they visit the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, BBC Oxford has learned.
The 30-year-old has been ever present in the Oxford side since his transfer on deadline day last month.
But there is a clause in the deal which prevents him playing in the Kassam Stadium fixture, but not the return match in Sussex in December.
Cook has scored five goals this season - three of them for Crawley.
Cook's absence could be Aaron Woodley's gain.
The highly rated teenage striker has been in the first-team squad on three previous occasions and will travel with them to Gateshead this weekend.
He is set to be given a place on the bench if Alfie Potter fails to recover from a virus.
Defender Rhys Day is back in contention, too, after returning to full training following a knee injury.
Meanwhile, United will not allow their midfielder Sam Deering to feature for Newport County in the FA Cup and he will return to the Kassam Stadium when his loan spell there ends.
But defender Shane Killock is to extend his stay at AFC Telford, and will be allowed to become cup-tied.
Chris Carruthers' loan spell at Crawley ends this weekend.
