Thomas has urged Patterson to turn things around quickly
Oxford United's new chairman Kelvin Thomas says if Darren Patterson cannot get his team winning soon there will probably be a new manager.
Thomas took over the role from Nick Merry on Thursday and told BBC Oxford that the poor run of results cannot go on forever.
"We have had discussions with Darren. Realistically, and Darren knows , we need to start winning," Thomas said.
"We want to make Oxford United successful and winning helps."
Thomas also feels a good working relationship with the club's former owner and current landlord Firoz Kassam is crucial and he has already held talks with him.
"Firoz has actually been very helpful in allowing the club to handle some of those short-term financial issues including the rent payment," he added.
"We are encouraged with that and it was a very good conversation."
