Oxford United manager is casting his eye over former Bradford and Nottingham Forest midfielder Paul Evans.
The 34-year-old free agent took part in training on Thursday and manager Darren Patterson told BBC Oxford that he has been impressed with what he has seen.
"He is a quality player, obviously very unlucky to be out of contract.
"When I heard of his availability I asked him to come down straight away. You could see within ten minutes what a good footballer he is."
Meanwhile Oxford United have ended goalkeeper Jake Cole's loan spell at the Kassam Stadium.
The QPR keeper made five starts before suffering a groin injury in the 1-1 draw at Ebbsfleet.
