Oxford United boss Darren Patterson admits that he is hoping for a cash windfall from the rumoured sale of Sunderland midfielder Dean Whitehead.
United negotiated a 25 per cent sell-on clause when the Abingdon-born man moved to the Stadium of Light four years ago.
Fulham, Middlesbrough and Stoke are reported to be interesting in signing Whitehead, 26. And Patterson told BBC Oxford: "Of course it would help.
"How much money I would get I don't know, but I'm sure I'd get some of it."
