Oxford United captain Adam Murray says he is keen for the season to start and for his side to prove what they can do.
The former Macclesfield midfielder has impressed in pre-season but told BBC Oxford that the U's must aim to start with a win at Barrow.
"I think the lads have been waiting for the last few weeks to get out there and play a game where there is something at the end of it.
"It's ok playing friendlies but now we are ready for three points."
Murray has been included in the squad for the game in Cumbria after returning to training this week after a knock.
BBC Oxford has full match commentary of the match on 95.2FM in Oxfordshire and at bbc.co.uk/oxford.
