Joel Ledgister was taken to Oxford by former boss Jim Smith

Oxford United winger Joel Ledgister has had his contract at the Kassam Stadium terminated by mutual consent.

The ex-Southend man, 20, made seven starts for United in his one year at the club and ended the season transfer listed and on loan at Hayes & Yeading.

Boss Darren Patterson said: "It hasn't worked out for Joel and it is in everyone's interest if he moves on and makes a fresh start.

"Joel is a decent lad and we wish him well for the future."
