The 19-year-old has made seven starts for the U's since joining from Southend in July but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the first team.

Boss Darren Patterson told Oxford's website: "Joel needs to be playing matches and this is a chance to go and get fit and get that sharpness back."

Ledgister goes straight into the squad to face Fisher Athletic at the weekend.
