Jim Smith is not worried about his job as Oxford boss |
Oxford manager Jim Smith is confident that he will not lose his job after their crushing 5-0 defeat against Rushden & Diamonds. The U's were 3-0 down inside 14 minutes and ex-Oxford players Martin Foster and Andy Burgess were among the goalscorers at Nene Park.
Smith told BBC Radio Oxford: "I will be speaking to the chairman.
"I only want what is best for Oxford but I have no doubt that I will be picking the team for our next match."
Smith added: "We have got to regroup now after this defeat and make sure that we are ready for the next game because the FA Cup tie against Northwich is now a huge match and a huge competition for us.

"It is not the lowest point since I have been back at the club because we have been relegated but it is nearly there."
"The management sometimes feel more hurt than the players after a defeat like this.
"We did not put ourselves enough to stop them scoring five goals and it was too easy for them.
"The strange things is that their goalkeeper probably had to make more saves than ours but the problem was that we did not put them under any periods of sustained pressure. It was just isolated runs and shots on our part."
