Seven players released in Oldham Athletic clear-out

Todd featured six times for Oldham after joining in January

Oldham Athletic have announced that seven players will be leaving as the club begins planning for next season.

Lewis Alessandra, Ritchie Jones, Rod McDonald, Josh Ollerenshaw, Andy Todd, Dean Brill and Reuben Reid have all been told they can leave.

Boss Paul Dickov told the club website: "It was a difficult decision because they were players who have been here all season and they worked hard for me.

"I spoke to them personally because I wanted to thank them for their effort."

He added: "Unfortunately we cannot keep everybody and next season we need to have a smaller squad for financial reasons, but one with more quality in it.

"And if you look at those who are staying, they are the ones who have played most this season and I believe we have the nucleus of what I believe is a good squad."
