Oldham Athletic land Jason Lowe on loan from Blackburn
Lowe played for England Under-20s in February against France
Oldham Athletic have moved quickly to replace the loss of Dale Stephens by signing Blackburn midfielder Jason Lowe on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old had a move to Aberdeen collapse in January because of a raft of injuries at Ewood Park.
He made his first start in the FA Cup against QPR and made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Chelsea.
Stephens, 21, has joined League One rivals Southampton on loan until the end of the season.
Latics manager Paul Dickov told the club website: "Jason a player who I have tried to bring in before.
"He is a player of the fringe of the Blackburn first team and it shows how highly they rate him that he played for them against Chelsea.
"Jason is a box-to-box midfield player who is good on the ball and not afraid to put his foot in."
The midfielder joins for the remaining eight games of the season and will look to help the club improve on winless streak of 11 games.
"They told me they would try to find me a club and, when Oldham came in for me, it was a no brainer," Lowe said.
"I have learned a lot at Blackburn, but need to put that into match situations which is the reason why I am here to gain experience of playing first-team football."
