Blackburn Rovers teenager Jason Lowe will not be joining Aberdeen on loan.

Dons manager Craig Brown had been confident that the 19-year-old central midfielder would make the move to Pittodrie until the end of the season.

However, Rovers now want to keep the England Under-19 international because of injuries they sustained in the FA Cup defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.

Lowe's former Ewood team-mate Nick Blackman recently moved to Aberdeen as Brown restructures his side.

The manager recently signed former Livingston and Plymouth Argyle defender David McNamee on a free transfer and brought in midfielder Rob Milsom from Fulham.

Rovers boss Steve Kean claimed Lowe marked Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard out of the game when he came on as an early substitute against them earlier this month.

The 19-year-old has played twice for the Rovers first-team this season and was an unused sub at Villa Park.
