Oldham chairman says players are refusing transfers

Oldham Athletic

Oldham Athletic chairman Simon Corney has revealed a number of players have rejected moves away from the club.

Corney says four players have recently rejected moves to clubs either in League Two or Blue Square Bet Premier.

The Latics currently have 34 full-time professionals and have made a number of them available for transfer.

He told the club website: "We have been trying to get players out but they don't want to go and they are under contract so there's nothing we can do."

Manager Paul Dickov told BBC Radio Manchester this week he would allow club captain Sean Gregan to leave the club in search of first-team football.

In July Jon Worthington, Rob Purdie, Joe Colbeck, Joe Jacobson, Greg Fleming and Kelvin Lomax were placed on the transfer list but so far only Colbeck has moved on, to Hereford.
