Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has heaped praise on his new loan signing Darren Byfield following Saturday's 1-0 win at Northampton Town.
The 32-year-old moved to Boundary Park from Doncaster on a month-long deal and made his league debut at the weekend.
Sheridan told BBC Radio Manchester: "I thought he was excellent at Northampton and I was trying to get him all week.
"He is an excellent addition to the team. He has played at the highest level. He was excellent on Saturday."
He added: "He caused them a lot of problems with his pace and his touch. His performance was certainly very pleasing.
"Hopefully he is going to improve us as a team and help one or two of the younger players in the team."
