Walker won four England caps between 1996 and 2004

Ian Walker has left Bolton after agreeing a deal to cancel his contract.

The 37-year-old ex-England keeper made eight appearances - though none were in the Premier League - having signed on a free transfer from Leicester in 2005.

"It was a case of sitting down with Ian and doing what was right for Bolton and most importantly for Ian," said Bolton manager Gary Megson.

"The emergence of Ali Al Habsi was terrific last season so we've come to an agreement and wish Ian well."

Walker, who won four England caps, has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer in the United States.
