Karl Hawley was the top goalscorer in League Two in 2005-06
League Two side Notts County have signed striker Karl Hawley from Championship outfit Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.
The former Carlisle striker, 27, has signed a three-year deal at Meadow Lane after spending two seasons at Deepdale.
Magpies manager Ian McParland said: "Karl is a player we've had on our shortlist for most of the summer.
"He has been prolific at this level and higher up in the football pyramid so I am pleased to have him on board."
The Walsall-born striker made just one appearance for his hometown club, and had loan spells with Raith Rovers and Hereford United.
After a short spell with Hednesford Town, Hawley joined Carlisle in the summer of 2004 and scored 47 goals in 118 games.
He finished as their leading scorer in each of his three seasons at Brunton Park, as he helped the club win consecutive promotions from the Conference to League One.
