Notts County have taken striker Dean Bowditch on trial after he was released by Championship side Ipswich Town.

The 23-year-old will train with the Magpies this week as they continue their search for a new forward.

County manager Ian McParland told the club's website: "We monitored Dean last season but for one reason or another we didn't manager to bring him here.

"He is looking to get himself settled and we're only too pleased to offer him the chance here."

Meanwhile, the club have announced that they will play two friendlies while in Austria next week.

They will play Romanian side Universitatea Craiova on Monday, before facing Austria Salzburg on Wednesday.

Bowditch will join fellow trialists John Irving at Meadow Lane this week.
