Notts County midfielder Adam Nowland is set to be out of action for six weeks because of a hamstring injury.

Nowland, who is on a short-term contract with the League Two club, picked up the problem in the draw at Luton Town.

Magpies manager Ian McParland told BBC Radio Nottingham it was a significant blow: "He's been excellent, he gets on the ball and makes us tick."

Jay Smith is likely to replace Nowland for Saturday's clash with Shrewsbury.
