Notts County defender Mike Edwards says he hopes to help his club win promotion this season after being confirmed as captain for the coming season.
The 28-year-old told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's a great honour. It's my fifth season here and I feel I know what this club is about now.
"I'm looking forward to the opportunity and hope we'll have some success."
Edwards, who joined the Magpies from Grimsby in the summer of 2004, signed a new two-year deal in June.
He said the side needed more consistency to achieve their aims this season.
"We need to stick with the way we're trying to do things, get this club running and give it some time but there are promising signs from the pre-season matches," he said.
