Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday's Marcus Tudgay on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
Forest had been keen to bring in a new striker after hearing that Dexter Blackstock has been ruled out for a year with a cruciate knee injury.
Tudgay, 27, was Wednesday's top scorer last season with 10 goals.
But the former Derby County forward has only scored four goals in 16 starts and four substitute appearances this term.
The Owls turned down a bid for Tudgay from Premier League side Blackpool in the summer.
Forest have also been chasing Leicester City's out-of-favour striker Matt Fryatt.
Forest also signed Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey on Thursday on a loan deal until 3 January, but a potential move for Leicester City's Matty Fryatt was not completed.
