McGoldrick joined Forest from Southampton for a reported fee of 1m
Nottingham Forest striker David McGoldrick believes increased competition for places will help him improve next season.
McGoldrick will go up against Robert Earnshaw, Nathan Tyson, Dele Adebola and Joe Garner for a first team spot.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's a good variation and one of the best strike forces in the Championship."
"I think it will make me better, last year I played every game so I've got to try my hardest every day in training."
McGoldrick scored 12 times for Southampton last season before sealing a move back to his home city.
And the 21-year-old has been keen on a move back to Nottingham for some time.
He said: "My family and friends are here so to get back in Nottingham is a great feeling for me so I can feel settled and get playing good football."
The former Notts County player arrived for £1m, with manager Billy Davies still hoping to add another striker to his squad. He has been heavily linked with a move for QPR's Dexter Blackstock.
