The boss of the new Lotus F1 team has admitted he would not rule out getting financially involved with Norwich City.

The CEO of Air Aisa, and Lotus Racing team principle, spoke to BBC Radio Norfolk at the launch of the new Lotus.

"Why not, never say no, I've never been to Carrow Road, maybe Delia will invite me one day," he said

"If people want me to get involved and it makes sense then why not, at the very minimum Lotus and Norwich should be closely aligned," he added.

The construction of the new Lotus has been masterminded by life-long Norwich fan Mike Gascoyne, the team's chief technical officer, from their UK headquarters in Hingham, Norfolk.

And with Lotus Racing adopting the traditional Lotus livery of the 1960s, 45-year-old Malaysian Fernandes says he's keen that the links don't end there.

"We should help each other wherever we can, and I hope when we have time we can bring the car to Carrow Road, we'll be rooting for Norwich going forward.

"I watched them the other day, I think playing Hartlepool, I've received many emails, the colour's green and yellow and maybe Norfolk will become my home for the rest of my life, who knows," he said.

Norwich have been on the hunt for significant new investment for some time, with majority shareholder Delia Smith admitting she would stand aside if the right buyer could be found.
