Norwich City-Walsall row rumbles on

The disagreement between Norwich and Walsall over Monday's postponed match at the Banks's Stadium has continued with both clubs making statements.

The game was called off by referee Mark Haywood due to the icy conditions.

A statement on the Saddlers' website said: "Following a consultation with the Norwich City manager, Mr Haywood went back out and called the game off."

Norwich City responded to this with their own statement saying Paul Lambert did not influence the referee.

The Canaries' chief executive David McNally said: "Once again we wish to point out the only person ultimately responsible for the decision to call off the match is the referee - whether we agree with his decision or not is immaterial."

Walsall were convinced the pitch was playable and have contacted the Football League to make their opinion known.

The fixture will now take place on Tuesday, 12 January, at 1945 GMT.

Fans unable to attend the midweek match are eligible for a refund.
