Kennedy has suffered a series of knee injuries during his career
On-loan Norwich defender John Kennedy has returned to Celtic for treatment on the knee cartilage injury he sustained in the defeat at Reading.
A scan has confirmed the 25-year-old is likely to be out of action for three to five weeks.
His loan expires on New Year's Day but Norwich boss Glenn Roeder told BBC Radio Norfolk he may look to extend it.
"Hopefully I'll speak to Gordon [Strachan] and see what his view is for the rest of the season," he said.
"John Kennedy's made a huge impression on me as a player and a person. He's a guy you'd want in the trenches."
If it's too long a period we have to take a view, maybe, that we'll have to look elsewhere

Roeder said extending the deal may depend on assurances over the defender's fitness.
"I need to be as certain as I can be what length of time he's going to be out, and we're not going to know that until he has his operation," said Roeder.

Norwich have already lost one central defender, Dejan Stefanovic, for the rest of the season because of serious knee ligament damage.
