Norwich move for in-demand Sharp
Billy Sharp
Billy Sharp was key to Scunthorpe gaining promotion
Scunthorpe chairman Steve Wharton says Norwich have made a bid for striker Billy Sharp.

The 21-year-old scored 32 goals last season as Scunthorpe won promotion from League One to the Championship.

Wharton told the Eastern Daily Press newspaper: "I can confirm that Norwich are one of four or five clubs showing an interest in Billy.

"Obviously I cannot go into any detail while discussions are ongoing. Billy has been made aware of the interest."

Wharton added: "Clubs looking at Billy know that our asking price is 2m, plus various other things built into the package to make it substantially more.

"But I am still desperately hoping Billy will stay with us. We have offered him the best new contract that we can."
