Robinson has been tempted by a move to Major League Soccer

The 30-year-old Wales midfielder has signed for newly-formed Toronto FC, who were given MLS status in May 2006, after being released by Norwich City.

Robinson had fallen down the pecking order at Norwich following the arrival of Simon Lappin and Mark Fotheringham.

"I told him (Robinson) I was looking for a different type of midfield player," said Norwich boss Peter Grant.

"Because he had been so good to me I didn't want to give him a bit part so I gave him permission to speak to Toronto.

"The reason is because I think he has been terrific since he came here, absolutely brilliant."

Toronto, managed by former Scotland striker Maurice Johnston, will be the first non-US side to compete in the MLS when the season begins in April.

Robinson, who has won 35 caps for Wales, had been a regular at Carrow Road since joining from Sunderland for �50,000 on a two-and-a-half year deal 12 months ago.

He is set to play for Wales in Tuesday's friendly with Northern Ireland in Belfast, but a move to North America raises doubts over his international career.
