Northwich Victoria have gone into administration for the second time in five years, following their relegation from the Blue Square Premier.
An administration order was granted on Friday after owner Jim Rushe sought help from an insolvency firm.
Rushe said: "I'm sorry it's come to this, but I've been left with no choice given the circumstances the club finds itself in following relegation."
They could be docked 10 points for the start of the Blue Square North season.
The Football Conference will discuss Northwich's punishment at its annual meeting.
The club, who previously went into administration in September 2004, owe around £500,000 in unpaid bills to creditors.
