Steele has agreed a two-year deal to return to the club where he played before moving into the Football League with Shrewsbury in 1997.

The 33-year-old has since had spells with Brighton, Oxford and Leyton Orient before joining Chester last season.

He still had a year of his deal to run but was allowed to leave to make space in Chester's budget to enable them to sign ex-Oldham midfielder Mark Hughes.
