Guinan has scored four goals in all competitions this season
Northampton striker Steve Guinan says new manager Ian Sampson has removed the feeling of uncertainty at the club.
The Cobblers beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round, in Ian Sampson's first game as full-time manager.
Guinan told BBC Radio Northampton: "Someone could have come in and cleared the decks of coaches and players.
"Ian Sampson has been here a long time, he knows the players and we've all called him 'gaffer' tonight."
Northampton Town won the game against Bournemouth in injury time, after Ryan Gilligan scored a penalty that had been won by substitute Courtney Herbert.
"We knew we had to up our game [after the first half] - you could tell from the reaction of the fans that they weren't accepting it.
"The lads the boss brought on gave us a spark," Guinan added.
