Crosby would love permanent deal

Crosby took Sunderland to the FA Cup Final in 1992.

Northampton Town's new temporary coach Malcolm Crosby says he hopes to earn a permanent contract at Sixfields.

Crosby has been brought in to help the Cobblers caretaker manager Ian Sampson and has told BBC Radio Northampton that he plans to stay if Sampson is kept on.

He said: "It's great to be back working again and it's fantastic to be back on the training field.

"It would be up to Samo [Ian Sampson] but I wouldn't be too happy if he didn't choose to keep me on," he joked.

Crosby also said he was impressed with what he saw on the training ground.

He added: "It might need one or two new players if it's possible but I was very impressed, the players attitude was first class."
