Jones was handed a short-term contract in the summer

Defender Ritchie Jones has left Northampton Town after having his contract cancelled.

The Barking-born full-back joined the Cobblers' youth set-up in 2005, having been spotted by the club's scouts.

He was awarded a professional contract during the summer but has made no first-team appearances this season.

"Ritchie leaves with our thanks and best wishes and we wish him every success for the future," manager Stuart Gray told the club's website.
