Northampton boss Stuart Gray was left frustrated after they drew 0-0 with Crewe - the Cobblers' first goalless draw for 14 months.
"It was a case of two points dropped, but at least it is a clean sheet and keeps our run going," Gray said.
"The ball was in their box enough, but we could not get that break and find that elusive strike.
"Our defensive record is improving, but we just needed someone to make something happen at the other end."
