Newport County have appointed Tim Harris as caretaker-manager in the wake of Dean Holdsworth's surprise move to League Two side Aldershot.

Harris switches from his role as the Blue Square Bet Premier club's director of football hoping to continue their promotion challenge.

Player-coach Wayne Hartswell and Kevin Cooper will assist Harris.

Newport will seek a permanent manager in the meantime, with ex-Wales striker John Hartson expressing an interest.
