Hughton ponders Newcastle United assistant options
Hughton (l) and Calderwood led Newcastle to the Championship title
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton says he has "individuals in mind" as he looks for a new assistant manager following Colin Calderwood's departure.
Calderwood was unveiled as the new boss of Hibernian on Monday.
Hughton told BBC Newcastle: "It's not something I want to dwell on for too long and I want to make a decision sooner rather than later.
"I have got individuals in mind but I'm giving myself these next few days to consider all of the options I've got."
Calderwood joined United's backroom staff in January 2009 and was number two to Hughton as the pair led the club back into the Premier League at the first time of asking last season.
Hughton added: "Colin is a coach of very good standing and I suppose it's never a surprise when there's an enquiry for one of your staff - in many ways it's a compliment for what we've achieved here.
"It's a blow to lose him. He's somebody I've known for a long time and that's the reason I brought him in because of the qualities that he has.
"But it's a great opportunity for Colin to step back into management. There's a challenge in front of him and I think that's what appealed to him."
Newcastle travel to West Ham on Saturday while Calderwood will kick off his reign at Hibs with a trip to Aberdeen.
