Wayne Routledge eyes top-flight success for Newcastle

Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge is confident they can continue their impressive form when they return to the Premier League next season.

With automatic promotion from the Championship already secured, Routledge revealed he and his team-mates are already looking ahead to next season.

"It's a nice feeling, the momentum that we have here, we want to take into next season," Routledge told BBC Newcastle.

"If you get a winning mentality within your squad, it's a brilliant feeling."

Routledge added: "We've got to keep playing how we're playing and keep creating and scoring the chances."

January's move from Queens Park Rangers brought the former Crystal Palace winger to the North East, after a career spent mainly in the capital, with sojourns in Portsmouth, Cardiff and in Birmingham with Aston Villa.

However the one-time England under-21 international says he is enjoying life at St James' Park after a string of disappointing moves.

"I thank Chris [Hughton, manager] for bringing me up here, and I've settled in really well up here," Routledge said.

"Everyone's been fantastic towards me, and I feel quite at home here."

Routledge has made 13 appearances for Hughton's side, scoring twice.
