Newcastle United have lost their appeal against the three-match ban handed to Georgia defender Zurab Khizanishvili.
The Magpies did not contest the red card shown to the 27-year-old for grappling with Billy Sharp during Saturday's 2-1 win over Doncaster.
But they felt the offence did not warrant a three-match suspension.
However, the Football Association rejected the appeal and Khizanishvili will miss the games against Sheffield United, Peterborough and Preston.
