Taylor joined the Magpies with Charles N'Zogbia moving the opposite direction
Newcastle's Ryan Taylor is adamant the club are in a false position and is confident they can avoid a relegation struggle this season.
The defender, 24, joined the Magpies from Wigan in January and has been impressed with the calibre and quality of the personnel at St James' Park.
"I've only been here a few days but the experience and quality is frightening," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"They shouldn't be in that position [toward the foot of the table]."
The former Tranmere Rovers full-back is one of three Liverpudlians at the club, alongside fellow newcomer Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton.
And Taylor believes the club's Merseyside compliment can have a positive effect on morale at the club.
"You walk around the place and everybody's talking Scouse," he laughed.
"I knew them all from playing against them, like Joey and Kevin, and it's good.
"If you get a couple of Scousers up here then the banter will flow and the place won't be so quiet."
Taylor joined Newcastle from Premier League rivals Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee with winger Charles N'Zogbia moving to the Latics in a separate deal.
