Kadar joins Newcastle injury list

Kadar is likely to miss the remainder of the season

Newcastle have received a fresh injury blow, with Hungarian defender Thomas Kadar suffering a broken leg in a reserve match at Sunderland.

The 18-year-old has yet to make his senior debut but has been named among the substitutes in the last five games.

He fractured his tibia in a challenge and will be out for up to six months.

Given injuries to key first team players, Kadar is one of several youngsters boss Joe Kinnear has called into the first-team squad this season.

Given injuries to Habib Beye, Claudio Cacapa, Steven Taylor and Jose Enrique, teenagers Kazenga LuaLua, Ryan Donaldson and Nile Ranger have all featured in recent squads.

Having already been eliminated from the FA Cup, Newcastle do not play again until Wednesday week, when they travel to Manchester City.

Nicky Butt will be suspended for that game and Danny Guthrie has a hamstring injury, so it is likely that Kinnear will name another youthful substitute's bench.
