Carroll scored his first senior goal in the 2-2 draw with West Ham
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear said he will not be taking any action after Charles N'Zogbia and Andy Carroll were involved in a training ground brawl on Tuesday.
The pair clashed following a challenge in training and had to be separated on several occasions.
"It was just handbags and it has been blown out of all proportion." Kinnear told the Evening Chronicle.
"I can't stop players being passionate, and wouldn't want to. I won't be taking any action."
Kinnear said he had been happy with the way his players trained and claimed the incident erupted because of how hard they have been working.
"It was a very intense, excellent training session, as we always have at the club. It was a fiery session. There was a late challenge and a reaction to it.
"The players were working to the max - it was as simple as that."
Gateshead-born Carroll, 20, has broken into the Newcastle side this side after injuries to Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins, and scored his first senior goal in the 2-2 Premier League draw against West Ham United.
N'Zogbia has been linked with a move away from St James' Park and early in the January transfer window he told French newspaper L'Equipe: "My agents are talking with Tottenham and Villa and, from what they've told me, Arsenal could also be in the frame."
The clash comes less than a week after Joey Barton and Jose Enrique were involved in a heated exchange on the field during Newcastle's 3-0 defeat at Blackburn.
That loss left Newcastle in 14th place in the Premier League table, but just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Injuries have limited Kinnear's options in recent games and he has found it tough to bring in players to during the transfer window, although he ran the rule over former Denmark international Peter Lovenkrands in a practice match against Carlisle on Tuesday.
The 62-year-old Newcastle boss also has other discipline issues to deal with, having just been charged by the Football Association for the third time since he took charge in September.
The latest one relates to a clash with Hull counterpart Phil Brown during last week's FA Cup third-round replay defeat at St James' Park.
